Numeracy is embedded across class group and individual schedules throughout the day. Students are supported with explicit teaching to develop capabilities and confidence in mathematical learning areas through their connection with the immediate environment, familiar routines, daily schedules, play based games, individual specific tasks, daily life skills, exploration with materials and digital programs.
At Bayside each student has a targeted Mathematics goal from the Victorian Curriculum as part of their Personal Learning Plan. The individual Personal learning Plan include a goal from a key learning area; Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry and Statistics and Probability.
Classroom programs support daily opportunities for individual student engagement, exploration, problem solving through meaningful and enjoyable experiences. Numeracy is a fundamental foundation block for all students’ development and is strengthened within the context of other daily curriculum areas.
